I have done a knit a long or two (KAL). KAL's are great for sharing the joy of knitting a project among other people. You can share progress, see ahead to how the project is going to look and troubleshoot any potential issues. Many have prizes and are quite grand affairs.
So why am I hosting a KAL - well not because this is going to be a highly active grand affair with loads of prizes, but because this pattern is such a lovely relaxed, lazy, chilled project - so perfect for the holiday period and something that I would like to knit, and I kinda thought a few people might like to tag along for the ride.
Also the other motivation (OK - honestly the MAIN motivation) is because I am taking an extended break from Skeinz (theoretically) and my only input until February is going to be in the mystical online world - staying in touch with all of you. So it made sense that I could plot my holiday journey and knitting with you all and wrap it up and call it 'work'.
So do you fancy having a bit of a KAL with me?
The pattern I have chosen is Oatmeal by Libby Jonson aka "Truly Myrtle". Written for our Heritage Alpaca, this pattern is part of a three pattern collection released last week and one I have been waiting for all year. I have chosen Rosehip, our soft blush pink, and I have undertaken the “tale of the tape” to get the perfect fit.
You can get Libby’s pattern HERE - at her Ravelry store and the pattern takes between 10 - 15 balls of Heritage Alpaca (or any other of your favorite Skeinz DK yarns).
If you choose to purchase the Heritage Alpaca - use the coupon code HALP$OFF when you check out to get a discount off each ball of Heritage alpaca you purchase. (Valid until the end of 2016)
I have also set up a thread over on our Facebook page along with another one in our Ravelry group if that is more your fancy. You can feel free to join in and participate, or just watch from the sidelines. There are no rules, no time frames, no expectations and no prizes - just a very relaxed and easy, bright and breezy gathering of people working on the same thing and helping me legitimise my time off!
