Autumn Newsletter 2011

Knitting Relief.
As I write this I have deliberately turned the radio off.  It has been a week since the second quake in Christchurch & I have found myself glued to media for any news.  My heart aches for all those affected.  We have been lucky that all our friends are OK – but there are those who just aren’t.  This is a disaster of international magnitude, & as the death toll rises not only are NZers losing loved ones, our international family is grieving as well.

The crafting community is always one that bands together in times of crisis.  Knitting charities donated thousands of knitted goods each year.  If you want to find out where to offer Knitting relief, look up the Kiwi Crafting forum on www.ravelry.com there a list of auctions, donations & other various ways of giving have been posted.
We also have plenty of new yarn to keep your own needles busy, providing your own stress busting relief as you clack away on the needles as this disaster unfolds.
We are thinking of you Christchurch.
Cheers Maree

Autumn Harvest

Also new is Harvest – a blend of nine fibres from Cashmere to Alpaca, Merino to Mohair .  It is lush yarn with a slightly marled look.  More colours are on their way, the first a soft grape called Renaissance, with a soft red called Geranium due any day

Harvest $4.00 ball 50gm

Be Bold!
We have launched two yarns in recent weeks with bright colour stories to help brighten up the duller days ahead.  The first is Circus.  A zany range of machine washable yarns that knit up to create wonderfully colourful garments – the Beret pictured above is knitted using one of the many Circus ‘Monkey’ shades, but there are many more combinations – to check them all out come in store or have a look on the web at www.skienz.com
Circus MW 10ply $3.50 50gm ball (knits up as 8-10ply)

The second range is Prism.  A bright collection of vivid colours dyed onto the bounciest Organic NZ wool.  These yarns are DK weight, and I am itching to group the colours together in a collection of bold stripes.  All the colours are featuring in current children’s clothing fliers, but if you’re like me & love colour, I can see some of the Jelly Bean (pictured on top of pyramid) making its way home to my place very, very soon!
Prism Organic 8ply $4.50 50gm ball
